$100,000 Grant Awarded to Upshur County Schools

TENNERTON, WV - During the Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday, June 14, Upshur County Schools was awarded a $100,000 grant. The grant was presented by Officer Sonya White of West Virginia Teaching and Learning. The funds will assist with Early Literacy.


“The grant you are getting tonight… I’m really excited about. We had some funds and put out a competitive grant. We had over 40 counties apply and your grant was intriguing. I am here to present to you a check for $100,000 for the placement of ECCAT aides.” said Dr. Sonya White.

Also announced was the placement of ECCAT (Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher) aides, which will be in first grade classrooms at Washington District Elementary School and French Creek Elementary School.
